Naxxar Lions Futsal made a stellar debut in the national Futsal 4th Division league by winning 5 - 2 against Mgarr United. After being down 2-1 in the first half, the lions had a thrilling display in the second period, as they grabbed all three points scoring 4 goals. Khail Drago and Joseph Farrugia each scored a brace while Daniel Farrugia scored the latter goal. The management of the team is under the guidance of committee member Martin Attard who also plays with Futsal 2nd division side Todos FC. Keith Borg who has previously coached Boca Juniors Futsal is the coach of the team and is being assisted by Adrian Ciappara while Gilbert Magri is the team manager. More than 25 players trained with the squad during the last weeks, many of which are Naxxar Lions Youth Nursery products which used to play football in the past years. The average age of the squad is that of only 24 years, this promises a bright future for this on growing game in our island. Their next match is on Tuesday 22nd November against Demons at Pieta. |
