[2010-07-17] A successful season merits a special ending and thus it was decided that the youth nursery section
between Under 6s and Under 8s would be taken to Gozo to end the season in style. All those attending
met at the Naxxar pitch at 7am and all were enthusiastic to board the coach that would be taking us
to Cirkewwa for our trip to Gozo.
We caught the 8am ferry and upon disembarking in Mgarr, Gozo, we found another coach waiting for us to take us to
Qala in order to start off the day with what we know best...football! The Naxxar youths played some friendly matches
against the Qala youths were the Naxxar players gave it their all in order to show some good football even beyond the
local shores. The friendly matches ended with handshakes all around and a commemorative photo featuring all the
kids and coaches. Following the 90 minutes of football, the group moved on to Rabat for some site seeing, drinks
or shopping, according to one’s liking and then on to Gharb where some good food was awaiting us.
With stomachs full and the heat at its best, we went to Marsalforn to cool down a bit. As soon as we arrived, the
kids immediately changed into their bathing costumes and off into the sea they went. Of course, getting them to
swim was the easy part. Telling them it’s time to go however was not such an easy task because everyone went to
stay in the water. However inviting them for an ice-cream seemed to do the trick and everyone was out of the water
and ready for ice-cream in an instance. Following the ice-cream we all went back to the coach and off to Mgarr and
back to Malta with the memories of a fun day out with family and friends.
We, the coaches, would like to take this opportunity to thank all the kids and parents for their support and commitment
throughout the season whilst hoping to see you all again next season for an even better year of football!
