During a rainy and windy afternoon, Naxxar overcame another obstacle when they won against Sirens F.C. with a strong performance. One must note the return of Victor Bellia with the starting eleven who scored two goals and the hatrick scored by the young Darren Falzon.
Naxxar started with an offensive formation and created a good number of scoring opportunities during the 90 minutes. In the first 10 minutes, Naxxar had two chances from a Mario Debono cross and a direct free kick by Gilbert Camilleri. They were awarded for their efforts in the 12th minute when a nice shot by Victor Bellia from outside the penalty area ended in the top corner, giving Naxxar a well deserved lead. Naxxar kept on pressing their opponents in their half and had more opportunities from shots by Kevin Fenech and Adrian Fenech.
Darren Falzon scored the second goal for Naxxar Lions after beating a defender and shooting from 20 metres away.
Naxxar kept on pressing with several shots by Kevin Fenech, Victor Bellia and Gilbert Camilleri, hitting the cross bar on two occasions. Finally, Darren Falzon scored his 2nd goal from a close angle to give a 3 goal lead to Naxxar before the half time.
In the 2nd half, Naxxar kept their momentum, giving no chance to Sirens and keeping a lot of possession. Sirens had their only chances in the 75th minute with a shot saved by David Vella and another close shot in the 84th minute.
In the 81st minute, Darren Falzon scored his 3rd personal goal from the rebound after a Victor Bellia cross. The last opportunity of the game arrived in the 89th minute when Victor Bellia dribbled 3 players and scored for a final score of 5-0.
